    For people with questions about the LEDs themselves, maybe I can help some with that... In the video he used WS2801 model LEDs for the RGB and effects (addressable) lighting, but these are now outdated. For the addressable RGB - I personally would recommend either going with a COB addressable strip such as a WS2811/14/15 in COB form. The pixel density of the COB strips is much greater, so it diffuses much better and it's harder to see each individual LED. If I were going to use a non-COB addressable for this, then I'd opt for a GS8208 model, because it's 12-Bit and so dimming curves are much more accurate. For the White LEDs - Again for this I would probably opt for a COB style strip, for the same reasons I stated above. However I would be tempted to use SK6812-WWA with either 96LEDs/Meter or 144LEDs/M. The advantage of the WWA is that it can do all the cool effects of the addressable RGB strips I mentioned, but instead of using RGB, the WWA uses only Cool (W)hite/Warm (W)hite/ and (A)mber. So the advantage of the WWA is that it can do all the chasing and motion effects in variations of White and Amber, and of course it can also produce the full spectrum of White light, instead of being locked into choosing one specific color temperature for the Whites. WWA strips are also available in 12Volt models such as WS2818-WWA or GS8208-WWA, but those two 12V models can be harder to find than SK6812-WWA which is 5V... Especially the GS8208- WWA is harder to find, and even more especially in higher pixel density such as 96LEDs/M or 144LEDs/M... If you're okay with 5V, then it's easy to find SK6812-WWA in 5V, however it's definitely not impossible to find the 12V WS2818-WWA. In general the higher the pixel density, the easier it will be to diffuse the light without hot spots being seen.

  • @imdbtruth

    Looks fantastic! Great work! My only suggestion might be to swap out those WS2801 for some newer COB style addressables that will show the pixel points much less.

    • @DIY_it_ALL
      @DIY_it_ALL 2 місяці тому

      Hi, yes LED driver is still required. SP108 is only a 12V DC controller, not a power transformer from 240V AC to 12V DC.

    Fantastic job.. like a few others I'm trying to replicate it, I've a slightly larger room with a similar 240cm ceiling height. I've read and reread the comments below and even resorted to measuring my computer screen and comparing your 4" roller to get measurments. Adding mesurements to the sketch up plan would have been ideal. The drop looks 200mm (you've mentioned a few heights below) with a 60-70mm lip (2x2 plus plaster board and edge) this leaves the gap to original ceiling from lip @ 130-140mm. No plaster board on the vertical edge of the lip, just the plasterboard edge bead?
